Creativity

Creativity is that ‘thing’ that happens when your passion is greater than your provision – when the output required is greater than the inputs available – when you simply must overcome a challenge, dig deep, and find a solution. It is a bridge from what is to what could be. It’s what happens when you stretch yourself and in so doing reach higher than you really should be able to.
Our passionate pursuits nearly always require great creativity as our passionate pursuits will very nearly always require more of us than our provision can provide.
In communication creativity is the spoon full of sugar that makes the medicine go down. It is the wrapper of the message that makes medicine palatable. But it can also wrap itself and the medium can become the message.
Creativity always creates community for it desires dialogue. That is to say, it must be expressed and experienced. It cannot live inside of the creative mind alone or it will become stagnant. Like the dead sea that has no outflow our lives become salty and sustain no life when our creativity is not expressed in community.
For me, Creativity is attempting to express the goodness of God and the confusion innate to questions concerning why bad things can happen to good people in the same song. For me creativity is believing the best in other people. For me creativity always brings forth creativity.
